Solar Film

There’s a product on the market that not only protects your house but helps keep the heat out: solar film. Solar film is a transparent coating which is applied to windows and has many benefits such as:

  • Lowering energy costs by rejecting up to 80% of excessive solar heat

  • Blocking 99% of harmful UV rays

  • Reducing fading of carpets, floors, curtains

  • Strengthening the glass

Check for solar film companies in your area to inquire about their residential and commercial capabilities.

Would solar film provide an added benefit to treated windows? I have energy-efficient, UV-blocking replacement windows in my home, but I have no idea how effective the protection is.

Wonderer,

The general rule of thumb is that solar film will add value and improves performance of your windows. With that being said, it is case sensitive depending on your current windows (the color of your window, age, etc).
