Thanks for the answers to your quiz. I was stuck on a couple of the questions. Now that I know the answer it makes more sense to be aware of energy conservation in your home, vehicle and general surroundings. It really does pay to be green!
I got 8 right...not bad, i'll take it.
I like the quiz. If you are interested in saving energy then visit our site and have a Home Energy Audit.

Uh, isn't that temperature too low for the hot water heater to properly wash dishes in an automatic dishwasher?
You should post about "flash" water heaters (tankless heaters) and if there are savings on those.
Also another good subject would be are photovoltaic solar arrays cost effective in Southeastern Virginia. I've seen people outside are region say they've reduced their power bill to zero using these combined with inverters. I believe their inverters can backfeed the grid for credits as well.
I bet they got the information from Energy Star (seems to be one of their partners). It says on the Energy Star website that "120 degrees provides comfortable hot water for most uses"

We have our tank in the garage set at 120 degrees and we have it wrapped with a jacket. It works just fine for us.
120 degrees for your dishwasher is fine as long as it has a pre-heater which most newer ones do. For older dishwashers, the temperature needs to be around 140 degrees for most detergents to clean their best. The other big energy saver with dishwashers is to not use the heated drying setting and don't use the rinse/hold setting or even rinse the dishes. For most newer dishwashers just scraping them off is sufficient. JK
