I wanted to congratulate Virginia Tech on winning the international Solar Decathlon Europe competition.
VT’s solar house, the Lumenhaus, beat out the competition of 17 other solar houses from all across the world. The houses were judged in 10 different categories, and VT placed in nearly all of the categories.
Some of the top awards that Virginia Tech took home included tying for first in Architecture, placing second in Communication and Social Awareness, and placing third in both Industrialization and Market Viability and in Lighting.
Not only is their victory incredible, but so is their journey to get the Lumenhaus to Spain.
According to Virginia Tech’s website, “The solar house began its journey from the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg on April 27. It took a truck from campus to the harbor in Baltimore, Md., and then two ships to reach Bilbao, Spain, and another truck to Madrid. The house arrived in the Spanish capital on June 7 so that the team had about 10 days to put it back together for the competition.”
Way to go Hokies!

Good post, very interesting
I heard the other day that someone figured out how to make solar powered AC units. That's pretty cool.
