City of Falls Church Attempting to Become Virginia’s First Green Power Community!

Tomorrow, the City of Falls Church will kick off its campaign to become the first Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Green Power Community in Virginia. EPA Green Power Communities are towns, cities or counties in which the local government, residents and businesses come together to support enough green energy to meet specific EPA standards.

If successful, the City of Falls Church will join 32 other Communities across the United States in committing to match a portion of their total electricity use with green power.

This summer, the City of Falls Church became an official EPA Green Power Partner by purchasing green power equal to 5% of the local government’s electricity use.

Now it’s the citizens turn to help achieve the goal of supporting just over 3,000 megawatt-hours (MWhs) of renewable energy. Through the Dominion Green Power® program, residents and businesses can match 100% of their home electricity use with green energy, or sign up to contribute in fixed monthly $2 increments.

If every resident of the City of Falls Church signed up to support just $6 per month of green power, the 3,000 MWh goal will be reached.

Enrolling in the Green Power Program is a great way for the community to work collectively to achieve the common goal of supporting renewable energy and helping to protect the environment.

Enroll in eBill for a chance to win $500!

Do your bills pile up?

Do you have to sit down once a month and worry about them?

Do you occasionally forget to pay a bill on time?

Well, now it’s time to join eBill.  And here’s the best part, you will be entered for a chance to win a cool $500!

You have heard us tout the benefits of electronic billing before, such as saving time and money, and helping the environment.  In fact, by switching to eBill, eStatements and making online payments, in one year the average American household would save 6 pounds of paper, 23 pounds of wood, and prevent producing 29 pounds of greenhouse gases. Not to mention, the average consumer saves 2.5 minutes per bill and more than a $100 per year when paying electronically versus by check. (Source: www.payitgreen.org).

There are three programs you can sign-up for within Manage Your Account.  I’m enrolled in all three for convenience and peace of mind; I encourage you to do the same!
  • eBill - This program sends you an email notification that your bill is ready to view, Dominion will also email you a reminder when it’s time to make a payment (either online, through the mail, or an Authorized Payment Center).
  • Bank Draft - Instead of paying your monthly bill, you can set up Bank Draft where your monthly amount will be automatically deducted from your bill on the same date each month.
  • Budget Bill - This program averages your past 12 month’s bills, and you pay a consistent amount each month, avoiding seasonal fluctuations.
All of these programs are free and easy to sign up! Plus, you can log into Manage Your Account to see your bills, analyze your usage, and sign up for programs (like Dominion Green Power).

Sign up for eBill today and good luck winning $500!
